How the room works

Deterministic, and short enough to read before you pay. Every number below is the one the code actually enforces.

  1. 01

Rank is the bid. Nothing else.

No upvotes, no algorithm, no judges, no editor picking a favourite. Where you stand is decided by one number: the total you have paid. Everything you can see in the room — which zone you are in, how big your logo is, whether you own the LED wall — falls out of that ordering and nothing else.

  2. 02

A dollar gets you in the door.

$1 is the only fixed price here, and it buys a place in the room rather than a position in it. Everywhere past the door is an auction.

  3. 03

Bids are cumulative. No money is ever lost.

Your bid is the total you have ever paid, so a top-up adds to what you already stand on. Being outbid costs you nothing — you keep every dollar, you just get passed.

  4. 04

Every zone asks one step above whoever is at its back.

To stand in a zone you beat the person standing at the back of it by at least $1. Pay it and you swap places. A zone with an empty slot has nobody to beat, so it asks one step above a door ticket — there are no reserve prices, and no made-up floor.

  5. 05

Nobody is removed on being outbid.

Whoever you pass steps back one. They are still in the room, still on the board, still standing on every dollar they paid.

  6. 06

Ties go to whoever got here first.

Two equal bids are ordered by arrival, and arrival never moves again — paying more can never cost you your seniority.

  7. 07

The door is a queue, not a freehold.

Once the crowd at the door passes 500, an hourly sweep asks the oldest tickets to leave — but only ones older than 24 hours, and only as many as it takes to get back under the limit. Nobody is evicted while there is room, and nobody is evicted on the night they arrived. Paying again brings you back with your bid intact.

  8. 08

A quote can go stale, and the money still counts.

Someone else may pay while your checkout is open. The price is re-checked when you pay: if the zone you aimed at has moved, you are told the new price instead of being quietly charged for a spot that is gone.

  9. 09

Rank only moves after the payment clears.

Opening a checkout reserves nothing. The board changes when the payment provider confirms the money, not before.

  10. 10

Joining free from X buys no rank.

Anyone can put their X handle on the floor for nothing. Somebody who joined free holds no position, moves no price, and is not counted among the products on the board — they are here so the floor is not empty. Up to 60 stand there at a time. Pay the door whenever you want a rank.

  11. 11

    Keep it legitimate.

No porn, scams, phishing, malware, link shorteners or invite-group links. Anything in that list is removed, and a removed listing is not refunded.
