About

A room where the ranking is the price list

Every directory has an opinion buried in it — an algorithm, a queue, an editor, a launch day that happened to go well. This one has a number. You can read the entire ranking system in one sentence: whoever paid the most stands closest to the booth.

It is a room, not a table

The obvious way to build this is a list with a price column. We built the room instead: one WebGL nightclub where every guest is a product logo standing somewhere on the floor, and where you are standing is your rank. The DJ booth is rank one. The four VIP booths are two to five. Twenty spots on the floor in front of them, and behind those, the door — unlimited, a dollar, and a queue rather than a freehold.

You land inside it, not in front of a gate. The party is already running behind the headline, with a live headcount of everyone else looking at the same thing.

What a dollar actually buys

$1 puts your logo in the room. Everywhere past the door is an open auction: to stand somewhere better you outbid whoever is already standing there, and they step back one rather than being thrown out. Bids are cumulative, so no money is ever lost on being passed — you keep every dollar you paid, and you can always pay the difference to climb back.

Nobody buys a permanent spot. Once the crowd at the door is over its limit, the oldest tickets are asked to leave, an hour at a time. A board that never forgets slowly turns into a graveyard, and a graveyard is not worth standing in.

And a free way in

Anyone can join from X for nothing. Somebody who joined free holds no rank, moves no price and is not counted among the products on the board — they stand at the front of the floor with their face showing, and that is all. It exists because an empty dance floor is the one thing this room cannot survive, and the honest fix for that is more people rather than a cheaper door.

Who made it

Built by indieport as a small experiment in what a directory looks like when the ranking has nothing to hide. Astro on Cloudflare Workers, three.js, SQLite on D1, Lemon Squeezy for payments. No accounts, no ads, no tracking beyond a page-view count.
